Arrant Knavery is a young, non-profit theatre company based in Pensacola, Florida with a focus on bringing both classical and underproduced works to life. Using theatre as a multifaceted and collaborative tool, we strive to be a conduit for local artists to experiment and create. We seek to enrich and inspire the community by bringing together creative-minded individuals to put on quality theatrical performances
Soon after our inception in 2017, Arrant Knavery produced The Will of Women, an original play, written by founder and president, Ashley McGlothren. The play explores feminist themes within Shakespeare’s works and was performed in front of a sold out audience. Picasso at the Lapin Agile opened in November of 2018, kicking off Arrant Knavery’s official inaugural season with acclaim.
Arrant Knavery also believes in the platform of performance; bringing awareness of pertinent social topics to the community. In November 2018, Arrant Knavery held a staged reading of Alyson Mead’s The Flora and Fauna, a two-woman play that presents what life after sexual assault looks like for survivors. In April 2019, the company presented Lysistrata, a Greek comedy that highlights the strength of women, the power of fertility, and the destructive effects of war on a community.
Arrant Knavery continues to produce works that incite inclusiveness and social justice.
